Questions

Questions we hear

How long does a roof last?

Architectural asphalt shingles run about 25 to 30 years and older 3-tab shingles about 15 to 20. Kentucky's summer heat, hail and poor attic airflow shorten that.

What are the signs I need a new roof?

Shingles curling or missing, granules in the gutters, a sagging deck, daylight or stains in the attic, and damaged flashing. A stain on its own is a reason to call, not proof.

How long does a replacement take?

Most houses take one to three days. Steep or complicated roofs take longer.

Do I need a permit?

For a full replacement, almost always. If we do the work we tell you what the permit involves.

What if it rains during a repair?

We only open what the crew can close that day, and we cover what is open. If rain is coming, we stop.

What warranty do I get?

Two parts: the makers' terms for the materials, and our written workmanship term on your estimate.

What does "lifetime" mean on a shingle?

It depends on the maker. It usually means the original owner, for manufacturing defects only, and often prorated after the first years. Read the terms.

Is that stain a leak?

Maybe. A bath fan venting into the attic can stain a ceiling too. The report tells you which.

Will you check my attic?

Always. The underside of the deck, the insulation and the airflow tell us more than the shingles.

Do you require a deposit?

That is written on each estimate and depends on the job. The diagnostic fee is paid at the visit.

Can you fix the ceiling?

No. We repair the roof. The report lists what is wet inside so a drywall contractor can price it.

What about storm chasers at my door?

Check the contractor's local address and insurance, don't sign anything that day, and never hand over the right to deal with your insurance company.

Still wondering?

Call or text. Someone in the office answers during the hours listed.
